LOCAL COLOR: RAILS, ROADS, & RIVERS
Studio Art Quilt Associates CT Regional Exhibition
The Connecticut region of Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA) is delighted to announce this call for entry for the next iteration of its signature exhibition Local Color.
Show Concept: “Local Color: Rails, Roads & Rivers” celebrates the range of metaphors evoked by human-built and nature-carved modes of movement and transportation and the people who build and/or use them. Metaphors include connection, journey, coming and going, liquid vs solid, trips, and travels.
Artists are encouraged to explore the varieties of meanings, images and experiences evoked by the theme and to interpret the theme in their own unique way.
Eligibility & Guidelines:
1. Open to active SAQA members who list Connecticut as one of their two SAQA home regions. This may include Connecticut residents as well as artists who live in other regions but list Connecticut as their secondary region.
2. Artwork that has been juried and acceptedinto a previous SAQA-CT regional exhibitionisnot eligiblefor “Local Color: Rails, Roads & Rivers”.
3. Collaborationis permitted, provided that (a) each person collaborating is a SAQA CT member as defined above;
(b) the collaborative piece is entered as a separate work under the names of all collaborating artists; (c) the entry fee is paid for the collaborative work (this is in addition to any entry fees paid by the artists entering individually); and (d) the collaborative work is counted as one of the three works each artist is permitted to enter.

4. Size Restrictions: Please take note of the size restrictions. Artworks must fit specific size dimensions - 30 inches by 40 inches (either vertical or horizontal orientation)
5. YES, framed work and 3 dimensional work WILL be considered. Every effort will be made to display the entire collection, within the space limitations of each venue.
Entry Fees: $35 for up to 3 entries per artist
Juror:Martha Wolfe is an award winning fiber artist and printmaker living in Northern California. In addition to creating art quilts, she exhibits and teaches workshops, offers lectures and leads a textile tour to Japan in conjunction with the Tokyo Quilt Festival. Her work has been published in numerous magazines and books and is held in public and private collections. She is the founding member and curator of the international
collaborative group, Viewpoints 9, consisting of 9 artists sharing a guided creative journey and exhibiting together throughout the world. Martha currently serves on the Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA) Board of Directors.

Digital Photo Guidelines: Images of accepted work will be included in an exhibition catalog. Finished images must be sized for printing: MINIMUM 2100 pixels on the SHORTEST side.
Additional Exhibition Locations: Select pieces from “Local Color: Rails, Roads & Rivers” may travel to additional locations. Exact show dates and locations will be announced as they are confirmed.
Accepted artwork must be available through the end of 2020.
You will be asked to agree with these Terms and Conditions: I agree to loan my artwork to Studio Art Quit Associates, Inc. for the duration of the “Local Color: Inspired by Science” exhibition. All works accepted into the show will be required to travel to all venues with the exhibition and must be available for the full run of the show (through December 2020).
I further agree to permit the images or detail images and/or all or part of my artist’s statement to be used in the exhibit catalog, articles, ads, promotions, books, websites, blogs, CDs, current event news coverage, television productions, and/or multi-media productions for and about the exhibit or for and about the shows at which the exhibit may be seen.
