New Exhibition: “Botanical Inspirations” CT Fiber Arts Collective

Connecticut Fiber Arts Collective (CTFAC) is coming to the Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens in Stamford, CT.

Eaton_FullBloomSAQA-CT artist Carol R Eaton’s "Full Bloom" (see image, left) is one of several nature-themed art quilts in CTFAC’s exhibition, Botanical Inspirations.

Opening Reception June 9, 2013: The Arboretum will host their annual Spring Tour from 12- 4 PM.
Connecticut Fiber Arts Collective invites you to attend a reception and gallery talk on the 9th from 2 - 4 PM.

Members of Connecticut Fiber Arts Collective include:

Cathy Smith Juried into Mystic Art Ctr Regional Show (Mystic, CT)

SAQA-CT artist Catherine Whall Smith will exhibit two art quilts in Mystic Arts Center (MAC)’s 57th Juried Regional Show. 

Smith’s Gold Hay #6 and In My Own Hand are two of the rare fiber art pieces juried into this multi media exhibition.

The MAC juried show will run from May 10 until June 22, 2013
Opening Reception Thursday, May 16, 5:30 – 7:00PM

“Rhythm in Color” a solo exhibition by Lynn Walker will be on view concurrently in the Schuster Gallery.

Hosted by Southbury Women’s Club

Southbury Women’s Club is now accepting applications and sponsors for the 9th Annual Fall Fine Arts Festival of Southbury. This juried outdoor festival is open to all artists and handcrafters that produce their own original work. All mediums, styles, techniques are welcome!

You Can’t Beat the Location!
For 9 years, this juried festival has provided an avenue for art lovers and artists to come face to face on our town's picturesque New England Green. This unbeatable central location draws large crowds year after year. Southbury Green also offers you easy access to your booth, on-site parking right next to the Green and all the nearby shops, restaurants, attractions and amenities of Main Street. Plus, Southbury Women’s Club provides lunch for purchase and booth sitters at your request.

All Proceeds Benefit Local Charities
All the proceeds from the Fall Fine Arts Festival of Southbury are donated by the Southbury Women’s Club to local charities.

$10 to $20 off Booth Spaces to Show Case Your Work
We are offering 10'x12' booths for only $65 and 10’ x 24’ booths for $130 when your application is received by 7/31/13. Applications received by 8/1/13 increase to $75 and $150. But reserve now because spaces are limited and we are receiving applications this year at a fast pace!

SAQA Auction Quilts Due June 1, 2013

SAQA's Benefit Auction is our largest fundraiser and SAQA's biggest income source after membership dues. For the 2012 auction, 394 artworks were donated and we raised $67,450!
With your help, we're hoping to do even better in 2013. We hope that each of you will create and donate a wonderful piece of art for the 2013 SAQA Benefit Auction. We will again have collectors select a special group of pieces that will be sold in the SAQA booth at the International Quilt Festival in Houston.

To facilitate the entry of your information, please use the online submission form, linked on theMembers Home page. Complete instructions are on the form.
The Early Bird DEADLINE of April 1st will make your donation eligible to be included in the Benefit Auction promotional brochures, as well as for display at the International Quilt Festivals in Cincinnati and Chicago.
ALL quilts need to be received by the FINAL DEADLINE: JUNE 1, 2013.

How the Auction Works


SAQA 2013 Benefit Auction quilts are available for posting on Pinterest for the first time this year. SAQA has the artist name and artwork title incorporated into the images, along with the SAQA auction web page.

New Studio for Christina Blais: American Fabrics (Bridgeport, CT) Open Studios this Weekend

SAQA-CT fiber artist Christina Blais is very excited to announce that she has moved her sewing operation, henceforth known as One Bobbin, into the American Fabrics building in Bridgeport, CT.

American Fabrics will host an Open House this Sat and Sun, May 4th and 5th.  Christina will be the One Bobbin Studio (studio 4-201) on Sunday only, from 11am – 6pm. 

As an exhibiting artist, Christina will be in Danbury on Saturday for the opening of SAQA CT: Local Color
