SAQA Members Win Honors at The Whistler House Museum of Art (Lowell, MA)

Congratulations to all the fiber artists who participated in this year’s Lowell Quilt Festival (Aug 12 – 14, 2010)

Special Kudos to SAQA Members who were juried into “From Fine Art to Fiber: Reinterpreting the Masters”, a fiber art exhibition at the Whistler House Museum of Art.  The Opening Reception was held on Saturday August 14, 2010.

MPhillips_PicassoLenore Crawford (Midland, MI) earned BEST of SHOW with “The Garden Parasol”

Dianna Callahan (Morrisville, MO) received the WHISTLER AWARD for “Lady at Rest”

and Connecticut’s own Margaret Phillips (Cos Cob, CT) picked up the JUROR’S CHOICE AWARD for “Picasso’s Girl Before a Mirror” (see image, left)

Congratulations also go to CT artist Norma Schlager (Danbury, CT) whose art quilt “Poppies” was sold the night of the Opening.  Norma also attended the Opening; you can read more about her experiences at Lowell on her blog: http://www.notesfromnorma.blogspot.com/

2010 Lowell Quilt Festival Opens this Thursday

Thursday morning kicks off the festivities at the 2010 Lowell Quilt Festival.   Visit the “Images” exhibition at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium; opening ceremonies begin at 9:30 AM.   Later, take a stroll and see fiber art and more during GALLERY NIGHT: Thursday Aug 12, 5:30 – 7:00 pm.   The Lowell Quilt Festival runs from August 12 – 14, 2010.

IMAGES, the centerpiece of the Festival, is moving to the Lowell Memorial Auditorium.

Opening Ceremony: Thursday Aug 12, 9:30 – 10:00 am

  • Send emails to quilt guilds in your area
  • Post announcements/images on Facebook pages or LinkedIn
