SAQA Artists Accepted into Quilt Visions:No Boundaries (San Diego, CA)

SAQA-NY/CT Artist Debbie Bein was thrilled to learn that her art quilt Oh Say Can You Cell was one of the 40 quilts chosen out of 600 entries for Quilt Visions 2010: No Boundaries

“I wasn't even expecting to hear until the end of next week so it caught me by surprise” Bein said when she received the news, “I'm still walking around the house holding my head in hands and chanting ohmygawwwwd ohmygawwwwd!”

But Debbie is not the only SAQA Artist to receive good news.  In fact, our members make up the majority of the acceptance list, including SAQA’s former President Judith Content

Crested Barbet by Connecticut’s own Barbara McKie, It’s Time by SAQA-NJ artist Gloria Hansen, Nucleus by SAQA-NM’s Betty Busby, Zen Eucalyptus by Jane LaFazio and River Notes by SAQA-NY’s Judith Plotner were also accepted into this prestigious show.

See below for a complete list of Exhibiting Artists

Brooke Atherton of Billings, Montana and SAQA Regional Rep for MT/ID, received an acceptance letter but didn’t want to celebrate until the official list was published by Quilt Visions.  Since the press release came out today, Brooke is now free to celebrate!  Acceptance into this show marks a special milestone for Atherton: “Some of these artists have been my guiding lights.  Wow.  I never in my wildest dreams imagined I’d be in a show with Joan Schulze, Judith Content or Velda Newman.”

The Oceanside Museum of Art will host this international juried, biennial event featuring the best of contemporary art quilts.  Quilt Visions has been highly anticipated as one of the most popular art quilt exhibits in the world. The show will run from October 24 through March 13, 2011.
