CT Fiber Artists “Sisters in Cloth” Present…
February 2 – June 24, 2011 in the Gallery at Haskins
Opening Reception: March 3, 2011 from 3 – 5 PM
The Double-Take exhibit includes original photographs by Rosemary DeLucco-Alpert as well as art quilts by Connecticut’s fiber art group Sisters in Cloth. Each fiber artist used one of the photos as inspiration to create an 18" X 24" piece and an 8" square detail.
“Sister” Vivika DeNegre explains,
“This show represents a departure from our usual presentation style... and a giant leap in making our artwork more accessible to galleries. We are mounting our quilts, all 32 of them [on stretcher bars], then using black "float frames" for hanging. The photographer's pieces will also be framed, adding to the overall unity of the exhibition. The result will be an absolutely stunning display of consistency and beauty in photo and fiber.”
The group hopes to find other venues for Double Take: Photo & Fiber after its run at Haskins.
