Hand Dyed Fabric by Carol R. Eaton at Village Squares Quilt Show

Local Color Catalog is on Sale Now at the SAQA Store!

The SAQA-CT Regional Exhibition “Local Color” catalog is available now through the SAQA Store. This is the only regional exhibition to have a book in SAQA’s on line store, made possible by the fiber artists who answered our call for entries, and from the SAQA Regional Grant program.

A Wonderful Weekend for Fiber Art! May 4 - 5, 2013

Local Color Opens Saturday May 4, 2013 at Western CT State University

Northern Star Quilters Guild Presents: “World of Quilts XXXIV” on Saturday May 4, 2013 and Sunday May 5, 2013

Northern Star Quilters Guild’s 34th Annual Quilt Show will be held at John F. Kennedy High School in Somers, NY.

The two day event includes an exhibition of traditional quilts and art quilts, lectures by SAQA artists Joe Cunningham and Teresa Barkley, demonstrations, quilt appraisals (by appointment), and over 30 vendors.  Raffle prizes include this gorgeous quilt made by Northern Star Quilters Guild members.

Beyond the Bed is an ongoing exhibit that traces the dynamic evolution of the North American quilt – in form, fashion, and function – from the beginning of the 19th century to the present day.

New Exhibition and Cover Art for SAQA CT Artist Lisa Corson

Congratulations to SAQA-CT artist Lisa Corson!

Corson_EmergingCorson’s fiber artwork “Emerging” (image, left) has been accepted into National Fiber Directions 2013, April 5 – May 19, 2013 at the Wichita Center for the Arts.

“This year’s exhibition showcases traditional and innovative techniques in the fiber discipline. This nationally juried exhibition is one of the Center’s premier exhibitions. The Juror, Pauline Verbeek-Cowart, has chosen an exceptional representation from the submitted entries.”

Local Color will travel to several other venues such as the Legislative Office building in Hartford, CT and The Guilford Art Center, with more venues to be announced.  A show catalog featuring images of all the pieces in the Local Color show is planned for April 2013.
