Poser Exhibit at Guilford Art Center – Opening Reception Friday, May 13, 5 – 7 PM
Guilford Art Center announces its latest exhibit, Poser, a juried group exhibit, on view May 13-June 26, 2011 in the Center's Mill Gallery.
Poser presents art works in all media that explore various notions of posing for an image, as it relates to artist, subject and/or viewer. Works explore such aspects as: a subject's self-presentation; an artist's own presentation of a self-conscious image to the viewer; a sitter or artist deliberately confounding their own identity; or the relationship between artist and model. The exhibit attempts to present a gamut of ways that artists might choose to present/interpret themselves and others in their work.
Poser includes paintings, photographs, drawings, and mixed media works by twenty-one artists: Hannah Baldwin, Irwin Block, Donna Brumbergs, Helen Cantrell, Christine Chiocchio, Nils Dailey, Richard Davis, Mark Dixon, Pam Erickson John Fallon, David Harlan, Dolores Marchese, Donna Masotti, Lady McCrady, William Meddick, Lawrence Russ, Alan Shulik, Steph Slater, Vin Verillo, Diane Wright , and Yee-Fun Yin.
The opening reception for Poser is Friday, May 13, 5-7pm.
The opening is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday through Sunday, 10-4pm.
