Volusia Wrapped in Fiber – Deadline for Entries is TODAY

SAQA-21yearsDEADLINE -- December 15, 2010 at midnight Eastern!
SAQA and SDA Artists – Get your entries into Volusia Wrapped in Fiber today

http://www.saqacallforentries3.com is the link to sign up for the exhibition - you do not have to log in to sign up! This is open to all SAQA and SDA artists as well as an invitation to special artists.

sdalogoVolusia County was the first area in Central Florida to exhibit art quilts as fine art. The area has become a site for many fiber gatherings and exhibitions. This program will introduce other venues to the fiber arts and exhibit the creative growth in the fiber arts. Artists are expected to create and display their innovative works featuring textile techniques with unusual materials or common materials used in unique ways. There are a total of five venues but only two featuring Studio Art Quilt Associates and Surface Design Associates.

Quilt artists are encouraged to present works where they are reaching outside the terminology of a quilt. Surface Design artists are asked to show works that use various materials in a fiber technique (i.e. weaving with wire) or to stretch their fiber techniques to new boundaries. 3-D, free-standing works, ceiling hangings, wall hangings, and other non-traditional works will be accepted.

We are looking for the exceptional works that you created but can't find a gallery that will work with you. We have 16-20 foot ceilings in Gateway - lots of room to float your art - and hundreds of feet for hanging art on walls or putting them on pedestals....If you made it with any type of fiber or used a fiber technique to create it, it fits our definition of acceptable works. No three layers connected by stitches necessary for this fiber extravaganza! But those are certainly acceptable too!
