The Guilford-based fiber art group Sisters in Cloth will team up with photographer Rosemary DeLucco-Alpert in a show entitled "Double-Take: Photo and Fiber".
Fifteen of Rose's captivating floral photographs have been interpreted by the Sisters’ fiber artists. There are two quilts for every photo: an 18" X 24" piece accompanied by an 8" square detail.
The image shown here is one of Martha Wolfe’s interpretations of “Tiger Lily”. Check out Martha’s blog for more details about her work on this project, including images of her 8” detail piece.
The show will debut in February at the Haskins Laboratories at Yale, New Haven, CT.
Sisters in Cloth member Diane Wright explains,
“This show represents a departure from our usual presentation style... and a giant leap in making our artwork more accessible to galleries. We are mounting our quilts, all 32 of them, then using black "float frames" for hanging. The photographer's pieces will also be framed, adding to the overall unity of the exhibition. The result will be an absolutely stunning display of consistency and beauty in photo and fiber”.
The Sisters in Cloth include SAQA-CT members: Linda Zimmerman, Diane Wright, Ruth Anne Olson, Carol Ludington, Gail Kotowski, Yvette Howard, Vivika DeNegre, Debbie Bento and Barbara C. Adams.
