CT Members at the 2012 Lowell Quilt Festival

Several SAQA-CT artists will be participating in this year’s Lowell Quilt Festival. 

The Lowell Quilt Festival is a citywide celebration of quilts in Lowell, MA.  Events include exhibitions at several local galleries, speakers, trunk shows and a top notch vendor mall.

Margaret Phillips’ quilt Etchings and Norma Schlager’s City Lights will be on display at the Whistler House Museum of Art. The Whistler House Museum of Art is exhibiting Art Quilts that interpret or are inspired by Whistler’s many works of art.

Diane Wright and Diane Cadrain will have their “Musical” pieces at the Brush Gallery. Wright’s End of Summer was inspired by Vivaldi’s Four Seasons: Summer while Cadrain based her piece on the tone poem Thus Spake Zarathurstra by Richard Wagner, later used in the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Solo Exhibition: Fiber Art by Lisa Corson at FVAC

SAQA-Connecticut artist Lisa Corson is enjoying a busy year!  Recently her work was exhibited in a group show at the Farmington Valley Arts Center in Avon, CT and the Parkside Café in Bristol, CT.

The show will run from June 13 - July 28 at the Farmington Valley Arts Center's Esther Drezner Visitors' Gallery.

Meet the artist at a reception in the gallery on Saturday, June 23, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Visitors' Gallery hours are noon until 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and by appointment.

In addition to the solo exhibition, Lisa recently collaborated with an author to produce the artwork for the cover of his new e-Book, “Opportunity Calls”.
